Thus, following from my last blog, when it comes to the “ABC’s” of wellness, “A” is for attitude. I’m not promoting a Pollyanna-like live through life with blinders on….everything is just so wonderful. We all have had challenges, and, if anything, we all experienced the stress of a pandemic. It is an honest approach to even difficulties or change that come from you to construct ways to improve yourself, things that you don’t like (not what someone else doesn’t like about you), and/or ways to resolve or improve a situation. The power comes from you and your Faith source.
A little over two years ago, I taped a clip for “American Health Front” to discuss my face-lift techniques. I looked at that clip, and didn’t recognize myself. I had put on so much weight….for me. And, for me, the first place it goes is my face. What bothered me most is what I discuss now about health, fitness and wellness, was always my MVV. You can look back on my media kit from 2002 on and even look at how my appearance ping-pongs in addition to my hair color! Looking at that kit was my honest, hard love critique of myself. I did lose the weight over 2 years through diet and exercise. I know these blogs are vague and I will share my thoughts on all of that, BUT you will just have to keep on reading to find all of that out my dear readers!! Anyway, the journey was hard and IS hard because I’m 56 and know it will only get harder as the metabolism slows. It is just basic physiology. I didn’t make the rules. It is just how it is. However, we can change our attitude and habits to accommodate all of that change. Diet and exercise is not just about looking good but about taking care of our machine called the body and being cognizant of our genetics like predisposition of heart disease, cancer, diabetes. As we get older, we don’t have as much “wiggle room” and these factors are critical to consider. Some thoughts……..you know I will go into more details as the blog series continues. I’ve been in medicine a long time and have seen the changes. I’ve dealt with so many people whose stories I was privilege to. It’s now my time to share and help you, my dear reader so you can live your best life.
